Having returned from our trip to the North to find the rivers near Pucon empty, we decided to head south for a short week. Our first stop was the Rio Llancahue, very reminiscent of a Welsh ditch with plenty of wood in the first few drops, but it soon improved with a clean 6m drop and a series of small rapids.
Apparently the Fuy is at quite a high level at the moment, which provided us with a fun run of bouncy rapids, and drops with a couple of juicy holes at the bottom. Unfortunately for Joe he found out exactly how juicy a couple of the holes were, swimming through the biggest section of the river.
Saturday saw the Palguin boaterX organised by Ben of KayakChile.net take place. A series of heats with 3 paddlers going head to head on the upper Palguin, followed by the semi finals and final. With low flows, the course had to be altered slightly leading to increased carnage.
